About Lewes Live Literature

Lewes Live Literature (LLL) was founded in April 1995 and incorporated as a limited company and registered charity in 1998.

In LLL's early years the company would frequently run a spring and autumn season of events, steadily acquiring a reputation for inventive, eclectic programming. The Lewes Live Literature Festival was established as a regular late autumn event in 2001 and ran uninterrupted until 2007. Working across traditional artform boundaries the festival specialised in bringing together spoken word with performance, music, film and visual art.

Since 2007 LLL has sought to move away from the conventional literature / book festival format to reposition itself as a live literature production company - working with writers, communities or from the text to create original bespoke cross-art performances and projects.
